Little Black Hawk is our senior boy, actually 18 years old. He is a bowlegged Boston/Chi mix. Hawk would not win any Best of Show awards, but he is an absolute sweetheart. He spent his entire life with one caregiver, and when she passed away, the family was unable to keep him. He has been with TLC quite a number of years now, and honestly, will probably live out his days here. He's got vision and hearing issues, and he's kind of naughty about pottying wherever he wants...but he's such a sweet old boy and so lovable that we just put up with those things! He's a cuddler and loves attention (and his stuffed alligator)!! So if you're willing to put up with his quirks, Hawkie might be the sweet boy for you! He's got quite the personality and we love him!
Variety is the spice of life, right? Well, Snowball is a feline listed at a canine center. Okay with me....Snowball is also a black cat...okay with me. Somewhere along the line, his front paws were declawed. Snowball is a young adult cat with a sparkling, friendly personality. He enjoys the company of dogs...in fact he sleeps with his girlfriend Flora Poodle. He accepts and gets along well with others, and his favorite activities include sleeping on laps, furniture, cat beds,or any other soft, comfortable spot. Looking out the windows and soaking up the sun is always acceptable ....not a picky fellow. His very favorite activity is sleeping on a lap or looking out a window. To know him is to love him.
Amos was adopted ten years ago as a puppy. He was with one owner for ten years, but recently his human passed away and sadly no family was able to take him in. He loves to go for walks (although he tends to only go one direction, you might want to have a helper who will come pick you up when you're ready to go back home!). He is currently at TLC with seven other dogs. He sets boundaries with them, but if they're nice to him, he is fine with them. He uses a dog door and does a really good job with going potty outside, very rare for him to have an accident. He's a real lover who enjoys snuggling and being with people. He would enjoy a fenced yard so he could run around and explore. He would do fine with older children, but would thrive in a home with older folks. If you think you might be a match please give a call to schedule a visit!
Houdini, or as we call him, Hoodie, is a great boy! He does pretty well using the dog door to go out to potty. He came to us after being on the run for two years. No one could catch him. He came to TLC very afraid and had no trust for anyone. Now he's a wonderful boy who loves being walked, petted and snuggled (but not hugged). He thinks belly itches are the best. He enjoys toys. He adores attention and will put his paw on you to get more loving! He gets along pretty well with the other dogs at the shelter, but would enjoy being an only dog, or maybe just having a family with one other dog for company. He will need a secure fenced area. He's got a lot of energy and will need many walks. He doesn't enjoy haircuts or nail trims! He's turned into a great dog and will bless whoever gets to be his furever family! He's very street smart, he survived two years on his own! He is not a dog who would do well in a kennel. School age children would be the best for him, but not tiny kids-they would make him nervous.
Fletcher (Fletch) came to us from a hoarder situation. He is quite the crazy boy! He has lots of energy and loves to play with toys! He does well with the other dogs at the shelter. He would be a great dog for school age kids, but would probably be overwhelming to tiny kids! He is a climber!!! He would definitely need a secure fenced area, and supervision whenever he was outside. He curls his toes and climbs chain link fences at the shelter. He loves going for walks and running in the big back yard at TLC. He has a sweet personality. At TLC we have dog doors that lead to outside potty areas. Fletch does pretty well with that, but would need a patience while he adapted to new surroundings. He's such a great dog! He enjoys being loved and petted. He's going to be a great dog for some lucky furever family! Not sure of his age-guessing young adult-maybe three years.
Sophie is a sweet old girl, approximately 14 years old. Her human had to go to the nursing home and sadly Sophie had to return to TLC. She is a sweet old lady who would love to have an elderly person dote on her for the rest of her days. She has lots of love to give, and still enjoys toys and playing. She likes to go for walks, but is perfectly content just being held and loved. The only time she's a bit noisy is when it's time to eat! She will let you know if you're not moving fast enough! She is a bit nervous so would do best in a house without young rambunctious children. She was used to a little old lady who spoiled her rotten, and would love to have furever lap again! She might be a senior, but she's a spunky senior! If you would like to give Sophie love for the rest of her days, please contact TLC and schedule an a time to come meet her!
Toby was a rescue who came to us very malnourished. He hardly had any fur and we weren't sure he was going to make it. As you can see, he's SUPER furry now and the happiest little guy you could ever imagine. He's less than 10 pounds, so just a little guy. He has crazy teeth (thus his nickname of Snaggletooth). He can be a grumpy old man when the other dogs at the shelter try to get his food. He's not afraid to try to back down any of them! He snorts and barks at them! He is very comical and acts like a puppy much of the time. We are guessing him to be around ten years old. He doesn't like to have hair cuts, so that's a bit challenging. He loves cuddles and will rush to the door to go for walks! He would enjoy a secure fenced yard to run and play. He's an older guy, so he probably wouldn't enjoy really young children. He'd do fine with school age kids though. He likes does fine with the other dogs at the shelter, but would enjoy being an only dog! He'd be a great dog for a senior who had plenty of time to love on him! Will need some patience with teaching him where to go potty. Used to a dog door to outside and potty pads inside.
